Nepalese PM vows to fight corruption in co-ops

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the House, pledging to tackle issues in Nepal’s financial sector.

In response to Nepali Congress lawmaker Dhanraj Gurung, Oli vowed to combat usury, cooperative fraud, microfinance irregularities, and the illicit Hundi business.

He emphasized implementing risk-based assessments and strict supervision across various sectors, including casinos and banking.

Oli highlighted the need for technology-based governance, stronger internal controls, and revising the Public Procurement Act.
