KRIBHCO the leading fertiliser producing cooperative in the country has rolled out a new eco-friendly neem coated urea in Bangalore.

Several top flight dignitaries including union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh and union minister for chemicals and fertilisers Ananth Kumar were present on the occasion of the launch of the new product.

Kribhco Vice-Chairman Chandra Pal Singh Yadav flew from Delhi to participate in the launch programme on Friday.

Kribhco sources claim that the new product is at least 10 to 15 percent more efficient than normal urea. The central govt had earlier announced the lifting of the 35 percent limit on production of this fertiliser.

Meanwhile a PTI release says that Kribhco plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore for setting up a P&K fertiliser plant at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. This will be the first P&K (phosphoric and potassic) fertiliser plant of the cooperative which produces urea only, Kribhco Managing Director N Sambasiva Rao told.

“The land has already been alloted by state government for the fertiliser plant. The annual capacity of the plant will be about 6 lakh tonnes and it will require an investment of Rs 1,000 crore,” Rao said.

According to Kribhco officials it will take about 4-5 years for the project to become operational. The plant will come up near Krishnapatnam Port on east coast of India. A techno-economic feasibility report for the project has already been prepared.
