Business Standard reports National Dairy Development Board’s subsidiary NDS will use the cooperative model in areas that have held out against working under the model in the dairy sector.
NDDB Dairy Services boasts a total annual turnover of Rs 4,564 crore from 15 milk producer companies (MPC). It needs mention that NDS has been instrumental in establishing 15 MPCs in 69 districts across eight states in the country.
NDS promoted Milk Producer Companies are in the areas where the cooperatives are not present or coverage by cooperatives are inadequate. Currently, about 24 per cent of villages are covered by dairy cooperatives.
