In the wake of Covid 19 sweeping the country, the apex body of co-operatives NCUI has decided to remain closed for yet another week beginning Monday. “Situation is not conducive for the office to remain open”, said a top official.
It bears recall that several NCUI officials and their families have fallen victim to the virus and are recuperating either in home isolation or in hospitals. Covid 19 has not spared even the newly appointed CE Sudhir Mahajan who is recovering in home isolation, sources say. His PA and other staff of the CE office are also suffering at the hands of the virus. “Luckily, all of them are doing fine”, sources add.
Meanwhile, the news of NCUI’s Governing Council member Pramod Kumar Singh succumbing to Covid 19, has sent shock waves at its headquarters. It was with a heroic effort that Singh got re-elected in the recently held NCUI elections, people recall.
