Kala Nand Sinha, Ved Prakash Setia and Sarla Rani Choudhary were elected unopposed as the President and two Vice-President respectively of NCUI Employees Welfare Association registered under Delhi Cooperative Act. The elections too place in the NCUI Board room on Thursday.
Talking to Indian Cooperative the newly elected President Sinha said “convincing the NCUI leadership on the need of providing medical facilities to the employees of NCUI is on the top of the agenda for the new team, pension being the second, he added.
As NCUI is a co-op organization with a unique culture the Association rarely confronts the top management, said Sinha explaining the working of registered body. “It was just once in the past and incidentally I was the president when we had to argue hard for the implementation of 6th pay commission recommendations for NCUI employees, recalled Sinha. Amin was the President.
The current President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav was one of the GC members that time and I remember his open support to our cause, Sinha added perhaps trying to hint prospect of a smooth coordination with him in the future.
Coming to the current elections, the returning officer Shaukat Ali informed that 18 members had filled nominations for the ten posts of NCUI Employees Welfare Association. Eight candidates withdrew their names and elections were held unopposed for the ten seats, he added.
While Sanjay Verma elected as General Secretary, John Minton was declared elected Joint Secretary. The other winners included Ramesh Chand Pandey for Treasurer. K.R.Kutty, Ram Kumar, Ramesh Kaul, Daya Ram elected as the executive members.
Congratulating the team Sinha said “I am elected for three years and I will try to address problems related to employees of NCUI by bringing them before board members of NCUI.
“There are about 85 employees who are the members of this association. The issues of Medical benefits and Pension are areas of major concern and I assure of our sincere efforts on these fronts in future”, said Sinha in his speech.
One of the members Laxman demanded “The subscription for the membership should be collected on quarterly basis instead of yearly basis”.
Several officials of NCUI including NCCE Head V.K.Dubey, Ritesh Dey and others were present on the occasion.
