The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), in collaboration with the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), organized a State-Level Youth Workshop on Cooperation (Cooperative Olympiad) on March 27, 2025, at CAEPHT, Gangtok. The event saw participation from over 100 students across eight colleges and universities.
Dr. Jagannath Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University, Sikkim, graced the event as Chief Guest, with Prof. N. S. Chauhan, Dean of CAEPHT, Ranipool, as Guest of Honor. Several key dignitaries from NCUI, SICUN, and ICFAI University were also present.
Key sessions were led by Mr. Anant Dubey and Mr. Anurag from NCUI, covering cooperative principles, social media’s role in cooperatives, and government initiatives. The event also featured a two-round competition, where Bhupendra Adhikari (Sikkim University) won first prize, Soumyabrata Saha (Sikkim Manipal University) secured second, and Pratima Sharma (Sikkim University) took third. Consolation prizes were awarded to Dipshikha Sengupta (Sikkim Manipal University) and Abishek Sharma (DIET College).
The winners were felicitated by Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) at the State-Level Cooperative Conference on March 29, 2025. The workshop was hailed as a grand success in fostering youth engagement in the cooperative movement.
