A two day national conference on “Recent trends in short term credit cooperative structure” is being organized by National Federation of State Cooperative Banks (NAFSCOB) at NCUI headquarters in Delhi on 20th and 21st March with active collaboration of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) and supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (NABARD).
Several Chairmen and Chief Executives of State Cooperative Banks (SCBs), Chairmen and Chief Executives of District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and representatives of region wise identified Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are likely to participate, read a press invite sent by NAFSCOB.
While the Union State Minister Mohanbhai Kundariya is going to inaugurate the function, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh is expected to be the chief guest in the valedictory function on 21st.
It is also proposed to present the Best Performance Awards for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 to the winning SCBs, DCCBs and PACS during the Valedictory Function of the National Conference on March 21, 2016, read the release.
The issues under discussion would include recent trends in Short Term Cooperative Credit Structure (STCCS), review the relevant policies, analyse likely impact of such policies and finally work out strategies to strengthen the Indian Rural Cooperative Credit Delivery System in general and STCCS in particular.
Govt should take lead in increasing the role of CoOps in Credit Delivery for the agricultural sector which has been plummeting over the years.
Issues relating to inadequate credit to the farmers have also to be addressed as this often pushes the farmers in the lap of money lenders.
