National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) has taken a novel initiative for supporting women led and lesser known cooperatives working in remote parts of India by developing an exhibition-cum-sale centre named ‘NCUI Haat’ in its premises. The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely impacted a section of smaller enterprises and cooperatives and they are struggling to run their business.
To help such enterprises cope up with the difficult times, the NCUI Haat initiative has been conceived to assist women led and lesser known cooperatives by providing them a stall space for their products at a premium location in Delhi free of cost and helping them in branding and packaging too.
The inaugural function of NCUI HAAT is slated today on Monday at 2 pm where one can explore a range of products including handicrafts, dress materials, artificial jewellery, sarees and bangles.
On the occasion of its inauguration, a Press Meet at 12.30 pm will be held at NCUI premises to be addressed by NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, NCUI Chief Executive Dr Sudhir Mahajan and other cooperative leaders.
Initially, cooperatives of six states like Assam, Manipur, Orissa, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Gujarat are displaying their products in this Haat, which will operate for the year round, and is open to the public. The representatives of those cooperatives who have braved the challenges of covid to sustain their business will also be present.
