India has authorized the export of 1,000 tonnes of non-basmati white rice to Namibia through the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL).
Despite a ban on such rice exports since July 20, 2023, to secure domestic supply, exceptions are made to support food security in specific countries. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) confirmed the decision.
NCEL, a cooperative society promoted by leading cooperatives like AMUL, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, and NAFED, will handle the export. Similar exports have been previously allowed to countries including Nepal and the Philippines.
