The recently established National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) has been granted authorization to export 23.9 LMT of rice to 20 countries, 50,000 metric tons of sugar to 2 countries, and 35,000 metric tons of wheat flour to 1 country, amounting to an approximate total cost of Rs 10,850 crore. This announcement was made via the social media platform of the Union Ministry of Cooperation.
NCEL operates as an overarching entity under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act of 2002, aimed at fostering exports from the cooperative sector. Cooperative societies at all levels, from grassroots to national, are eligible for membership.
The organization is dedicated to facilitating exports through a range of activities, including procurement, storage, processing, marketing, branding, labeling, packaging, certification, research and development, as well as trading of various goods and services produced by cooperative societies.
