NCDC’s Managing Director Sundeep Kumar Nayak has been empanelled as Secretary to the Government of India. Nayak is a senior J&K cadre IAS officer.
Presently on deputation as the MD of the National Cooperative Development Corporation, Nayak has been credited with many new initiatives at NCDC, the only co-op lender in the country.
It is worth mentioning that Nayak recently initiated the Ayushman Sahakar Yojana with the aim to set up healthcare facilities across the country. Nayak is widely admired for his administrative skills.
In a short span of time, Nayak has been able to win the hearts of co-operators, who are usually suspicious of the IAS breed. Nayak was lauded in the co-op circle when he mooted the idea of C2C, on the lines of B2B. He also organized an international co-op conference to firm up the idea.
Active in several fields, the latest from NCDC is a pilot project he has started on telemedicine services, to be operated by AIIMS Raipur through NCDC for members of the fisheries cooperatives under the central sector flagship program the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
His empanelment has, however, caused co-operators to fear that he may be transferred after his promotion. They want him to stay on for the sake of the co-op movement.
