Kerala’s Varappetty Service Cooperative Bank recognized by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) is one of the most enterprising cooperatives in the State. Its value-added food products are in great demand on markets abroad, reports Hindu.
The bank’s president M.G. Ramakrishnan said the bank exports coconut oil, dried tapioca, and vacuum-fried ‘nendran’ banana chips.
Sources associated with the bank claimed farmers get reasonable prices for their products and their products are sold abroad. The bank has scores of groups of farmers growing bananas and tapioca.
