The Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) has refused to avail itself of credit from NCDC citing its lending rate is too high, reports Indian Express.
The State cooperative bank that gives agriculture loans to the farmers has not borrowed any money from NCDC since 2013-14.
Although the bank requires more resources to bridge the gap between rising demand for agriculture loans and the actual credit availability, the OSCB is not ready to borrow at high interest rates despite the current farm crisis.
The state government, however, is interested in seeking NCDC support for computerization of the primary agricultural cooperative societies where connectivity is not available, sources say.
