In his speech during the introduction of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 on Tuesday in Lok Sabha, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the National Cooperative Database and new National Cooperative Policy would come before Diwali.
He said, “The process of preparing the National Cooperative Database is almost completed and will be formally launched online by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before Diwali”.
“The new National Cooperative Policy which aims at preparing the roadmap for cooperatives for the next 25 years, will be finalized before Diwali”, said Shah in his speech.
While replying to a query of a Lok Sabha MP, Shah said, “Mapping of about 2.64 lakh primary cooperative societies of three sectors i.e. Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), Dairy and Fisheries has been completed in February, 2023 under Phase-I”, Shah said in his reply.
Shah further said, “Under Phase-II, Mapping of National Cooperative Societies/Federations has been completed. Under Phase-III, the Database is being extended to the remaining cooperative societies working in all other sectors. The National Cooperative Database will be released upon completion of data collection under Phase-III”.
