Padmabhushan awardee and the renowned writer Shrilal Shukla was remembered on his punyatithi on 27th October across India. One of the first to pay tributes to Sri Shukla was Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan who called him one of the greatest writers of all times.
A great star in the firmament of Hindi literature, his most celebrated work” Raag Darbari” is one of the classics of Hindi literature. He abandoned the world on 27th October and thus this day is celebrated as his “Punyathithee”.
Recalling the legendary writer on the occasion, IFFCO MD Dr Awasthi, who happens to be his son in law tweeted in Hindi and paid tributes to the writer mentioning his many works including Rag Darbari.
It bears recalling that IFFCO set up a Literary award in his name in 2011 which is given every year for outstanding writing on life in the countryside. Srilal Shukla was a versatile writer who portrayed the life of rural as well as semi-urban areas in its totality and made a scathing attack on the exploitative system prevailing in the countryside.
