Narharibhai Amin, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurated the first Co-operative Jan-Aushadhi Kendra of Ahmedabad District at Aslali on Tuesday. The new Co-operative Jan-Aushadhi Kendra, managed by Aslali Seva Sahakari Mandali Ltd., aims to provide high-quality medicines at affordable prices, offering discounts ranging from 10% to 80% on various products.
The ceremony was presided over by Ghanshyambhai Amin, a prominent co-operative leader, Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Union and Aslali Seva Sahakari Mandali Ltd., and former President of NCUI, New Delhi. This initiative is expected to benefit both the members of Aslali Seva Sahakari Mandali and the wider local community, delivering essential healthcare products at lower prices than the market rate.
During his inaugural address, Shri Narharibhai Amin emphasized the importance of affordable healthcare for all and lauded the efforts of the cooperative sector in making quality medicines accessible to the masses.
The event was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Shri Jagdishbhai Patel, Vice Chairman of Ahmedabad Jilla Madhyastha Sahakari Bank Ltd., who attended as the Chief Guest, and Shri Mehulbhai Patel, District Registrar (Rural), who was the Hon’ble Guest. Other distinguished guests from the cooperative sector were also in attendance.
In his presidential address, Shri Ghanshyambhai Amin recalled the founders of Aslali Seva Sahakari Mandali Ltd. and shared the organization’s long history of service. Founded in 1907 with an initial share capital of Rs. 250, the cooperative has since grown significantly, boasting a share capital of Rs. 40 lakhs and generating an annual profit of Rs. 1 crore. For the past 23 years, the Mandali has distributed a 15% dividend to its members, increasing to 20% over the last two years.
The ceremony also saw speeches from Shri Kiritbhai Bapodariya, General Manager of Ahmedabad Jilla Madhyastha Sahakari Bank Ltd., and Shri Ajitbhai Patel, Director of the Mandali, who welcomed the dignitaries. Members of the Mandali and office bearers from various cooperative societies attended the event in large numbers, marking the occasion with enthusiasm and support for the new initiative.
This Jan-Aushadhi Kendra is set to play a crucial role in making healthcare more affordable and accessible to the people of Ahmedabad District.
