The Working Women’s Forum and Indian Cooperative Network for Women (WWF – ICNW) have received the honour to conduct a side event on cooperatives and women during the 60th session of the Commission for Social Development for 75 minutes on 11th February 2022.
Called in short as CSocD60, the event is being held from 4th to 16th February 2022 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. However, WWF-ICNW side event will be held from Chennai.
The side event is entitled “Women cooperative warriors combat COVID19 with sustainable gender and equity strategies: Iconic case of Working Women’s Forum (India) and the Indian Cooperative Network for Women”.
In a release WWF writes “A proud moment for WWF that in 26 years of its UN – consultative status (UNECOSOC), it is the only Cooperative Network globally to win this recognition.”
This year 43 side events will take place through 13 days and would be viewed across the continents.
Madam Daniela Bas, UN focal point on cooperatives, Director – UNDESA and Department of Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations will deliver the inaugural address from New York.
Other representatives include Madam Simel Esim, International Labour Organization (ILO), who will deliver the keynote address. The International Raiffeisen Union (IRU), Japanese Consumer Cooperative Union (JCCU), World Farmers Organization (WFO) and other Global Cooperative Unions, Global farmers/Asian Consumer networks will engage along with mass cooperative leaders of WWF/ICNW poor women leaders, digital literacy and micro entrepreneur movements.
