Rubbishing rumours related to the merger of Karnataka Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Nandini), with Amul, state Cooperation Minister ST Somashekar said precisely what Indian Cooperative reported a couple of days earlier.
Somashekar clarified that Karnataka Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Nandini) is not merging with any entity. The episode has its genesis in the wrong reporting by a section of the media on the issue.
Without understanding the import of Union Minister Amit Shah’s statement, a section of the media went on reporting as if Amul is merging its dairy business with other co-ops.
Addressing the 70th plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council in Guwahati, the Union Minister had categorically said that the process of forming a multi-state cooperative society or the purpose of Organic Certification is going on. This body will have Amul as well as four other co-ops. This multistate co-op will certify organic products for securing a lucrative market for them.
