Nafed will procure around 43,000 (MTs) metric tonnes of pulses from farmers in Bihar, HT quotes officials as saying.
Recently Nafed entered into an agreement with the Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (BSFCSC) to use the procurement channels for paddy and wheat.
As per the agreement, Nafed would sell the pulses procured from Bihar’s farmers only if the state government declined to use it, said a Bihar govt. official. It is said last year Nafed failed to procure grains from the farmers on the MSP because of procedural wrangles.
