Nafed: 3 nominations rejected, including that of Gurupratap

The list of valid nominations after scrutiny for the elections of the board of directors of Nafed was released on Tuesday evening and with this out of 54 candidates who filed 72 nominations only three nominations were rejected on different grounds.

The nominations of A. Rama Baba of Andhra Pradesh based Swayam Samruddhi Agri and Mktg Multi State Cooperative Society and Gurupratap Singh of Punjab based Agriculture Marketing & Processing Cooperative Federation (Agrifed) were rejected.

Besides, NCCF Chairman Vishal Singh filed his nominations papers from two seats under 20 (d) category but in the scrutiny only one was found valid i.e. Patna based Shri Shankar Swawalambi Sahakari Sheet Bhandar.

As predicted in these columns, so far 13 directors have been elected unopposed out of 21 seats on the board of Nafed.

Today is the last day of withdrawal and a final picture will become clear in the evening, when the list of contesting candidates will be published.

The polling will be held on 21st May 2024 at the NCUI Auditorium, and the counting of votes and declaration of results will be announced on the same day.

The meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors of NAFED will begin at 10:00 am on 22nd May 2024 to elect the office-bearers at the NCUI’s meeting hall.
