The agri cooperative Nacof chose the occasion of its 15th AGM to felicitate two veterans who had contributed to the cooperative movement in their times to the best of abilities.
The agri-cooperative NACOF used the occasion of its 15th AGM to felicitate two veterans who made significant contributions to the cooperative movement during their careers. These veterans are N. Satyanarayan, former CE of NCUI, and B.K. Mishra, former MD of Fishcopfed.
A chartered accountant by training, Satyanarayan had a long tenure at NCUI, where he not only introduced accounting and auditing standards at the apex cooperative body but also showed empathy towards the needs of employees and Field Project Officers.
A strong advocate of strengthening PACS, Satyanarayan spoke about revitalizing PACS to bolster the grassroots cooperative movement long before the current Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, took up the initiative.
Similarly, B.K. Mishra, known for his extensive knowledge of fisheries cooperatives in India, held numerous seminars during his tenure and pioneered the introduction of insurance for fishermen across the country.
Mishra is also credited with compiling the first comprehensive data on cooperatives, particularly fishermen. Interestingly, with the arrival of Amit Shah, the focus on cooperative data gained significant momentum.
Recalling their contributions, NACOF Chairman Ramiqbal encouraged them to continue their good work and become associated with NACOF to help realize their cooperative dreams. Draping them with shawls and offering flower bouquets, Ramiqbal also presented each of them with a cheque for Rs 51,000.
