Financial express reports Nabard among other things, is also exploring the possibility of consolidating DCCBs into a state cooperative bank. The small size poses a risk to them, said its Chairman HK Bhanwala to media.
Bhanwala said Nabard is preparing a framework to introduce a risk-based supervision for all district central co-operative banks under its supervision. There are 370 district central co-operative banks (DCCBs) under its supervision.
Talking to journalists Nabard chairman HK Bhanwala said Nabard is laying the foundation for such a regulatory framework but the final call on the matter will be taken by the board.
