My yields improved by use of Nano fertilizers: Gadkari

While addressing a national convention of Sahakar Bharati in Amritsar on Sunday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised IFFCO Nano Urea and DAP, emphasizing their benefits for farmers’ crops and sharing his personal experience with the technology.

“This season, on my farm, we used Nano Urea and DAP for sugarcane farming, and the results have been unprecedented. I applied Nano Urea on 4,000 acres of sugarcane using drones. Previously, we would use four bags each of traditional urea and DAP. However, this time, we only needed two bottles of Nano Urea and DAP per acre,” he said.

Gadkari further explained, “The cost of one IFFCO Nano Urea bottle is Rs 250, so using two bottles costs Rs 500, while two bottles of DAP cost Rs 1,000. With just Rs 1,500, we were able to treat one acre of land and achieve a yield of 88 tons of sugarcane per acre.”

“Farmers using four bags of traditional urea and DAP often face a 75% wastage rate, with only 25% of the nutrients reaching the crops. In contrast, when using Nano Urea and DAP with drones, 75% of the nutrients are effectively absorbed by the crops, with only 25% going to waste,” he highlighted.

He also suggested, “A drone costs around Rs 3 lakh. If Sahakar Bharati promotes this innovation, a group of 15-20 farmers could jointly purchase a drone or even electric or CNG tractors. This approach would significantly reduce farming costs and increase profitability.”

“Per-acre production must increase, and production costs should decrease by adopting advanced technology. Excessive use of traditional urea has made the soil in Haryana and Punjab compact and infertile. Transitioning to new solutions like Nano Urea can address this issue effectively,” he concluded.
