On Thursday, the state government approved salary and allowance disbursals for employees through the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank (MDCCB), led by BJP leader Pravin Darekar.
Initially ineligible in November 2023, the bank improved its financial parameters and is now among 14 authorized to handle government accounts.
The cabinet, chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis, also allowed state PSUs to deposit funds in MDCCB. Darekar thanked the government, citing the bank’s role in government schemes like Ladki Bahin.
Additionally, the cabinet approved leasing a Rs 200 crore Pratiksha Nagar plot to MDCCB for 30 years to build Sahakar Bhavan, sparking political criticism.
