There is a news item from our neighbourhood in which Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is quoted saying poverty in the country could be ended through what she chose to describe as multidimensional rural cooperatives, reports Dhaka Tribune.
She was virtually addressing the 49th National Cooperative Day in Dhaka. The theme of the day this year was Philosophy of Bangabandhu, Development in Cooperatives.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina underlined the importance of two things -involving women in large numbers in the cooperative movement and creating a broad marketing infrastructure to make it easy for cooperatives to sell their products.
