MSCB: Mumbai Police counters ED ‘s request to intervene

Mumbai Police has countered the Enforcement Directorate’s request to intervene in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam case, valued at Rs 25,000 crore, media reports say. Despite previous accusations against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, investigations revealed no unfair losses to the bank.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), which initially found no wrongdoing in its 2020 report, reaffirmed this in 2023, dismissing claims of financial misconduct linked to loans given to factories.

The ED persists, however, arguing that the closure impacts its ongoing money laundering case.
