According to Times of India , the tenders floated by the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB), for running the Sangli-based Tasgaon Palus Taluka Cooperative Sugar Factory for one year, has had no response from bidders. This is being put down to the stringent norms laid down by the MSCB – the credit supplier for the factory.
BJP MP Sanjay Patil, who was keen to restart the factory met with stiff opposition from the established leadership from Sangli district. Later, a case was filed before the Bombay high court over the ownership of the factory.
The MSCB decided to invite other factories to run the Tasgaon Palus factory. The bank had issued the notice and its period for submission of proposal has already ended.
Sources say running the Tasgaon factory is not attractive as rules are stringent, most of machinery is damaged and a lot of money is needed.
Last but not least, the case on ownership is still pending in high court, and the investor gets the factory for just one year for operations, sources add.
