The Lokayukta team conducted raids in the cooperative department in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh and arrested, Deputy Registrar, KK Dwivedi, taking a bribe of one lakh. Lokayukta Police of Gwalior was involved in the arrest.
The petitioner Harishankar Raghuvanshi is the manager of primary cooperative society.
Deputy Registrar Dwivedi has not clean past in cooperative department. He have had departmental inquiries against him in the past too. His tenure as Managing Director, Bhopal Central District Cooperative Bank was also marred by strike and shut downs.
It is feared that once the inquiry progresses, more officers from cooperative department may come under its net. This has tarnished the image of cooperative department of Madhya Pradesh which is already grappling with issues related to housing cooperative societies in cities like Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
In Maharashtra State we don’t have such report from Lokayukta arresting a corrupt Co-operative Registrar.
