In a significant development in Shajapur, Madhya Pradesh, the Lokayukta police apprehended RC Jariya, the deputy commissioner of cooperative societies, caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 1,15,000.
The exchange occurred within Jariya’s office premises at Shajapur Fort complex. Jariya allegedly solicited bribes from district committees at a rate of Re 1 per quintal of wheat procured from farmers statewide through cooperative societies.
This misconduct surfaced after grievances from five cooperative societies in Shajapur prompted a formal complaint to the Lokayukta police in Ujjain.
The Lokayukta orchestrated a sting operation, resulting in Jariya’s arrest.
