Ministry reviews Digital Strategy for Cooperatives

In a meeting chaired by Shri Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation, the digital engagement strategies for cooperative federations were critically reviewed.

The focus was on enhancing the use of social media to improve the visibility and reach of cooperative societies. Officials discussed ways to ensure a strong digital presence, specifically through platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook.

The meeting follows a similar discussion held last month by Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation, aimed at expanding the digital footprint of cooperatives to reach an audience of 30 crore. A phased approach is being adopted to systematically integrate cooperative members into these digital platforms, starting with structured WhatsApp groups.

The ministry is also pushing for the increased circulation of cooperative publications and diversification of languages to reach a broader audience. Key organizations like IFFCO, NCUI, Kribhco, Nafed, Trifed, and NCCF actively participated, highlighting the cooperative sector’s commitment to leveraging digital tools for better engagement and information dissemination.
