Hindustan Times reports Harmanbir Singh, son of revenue minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, was recently elected as chairman of the Bathinda central cooperative bank.
All the eight Congress leaning directors out of nine voted for Haramnbir as chairman. Kaur Singh Dhillon was chosen as vice-chairman and Sukhdeep Singh Bhindar as member director of Punjab State Cooperative Bank.
However, Punjab Congress secretary Tehal Singh Sandhu, one of the elected directors of the bank has blamed the dubious process followed in holding the election on pressure from Kangar.
Kangar has yet to react to the charge being levelled against him.
