Kerala’s Milma will increase milk collection in the southern districts with a view to helping its dairy cooperatives raise their procurement level, reports Hindu.
It is said despite an increase of 75,000 litres over the past year, there is a demand-supply gap of about one lakh litres in the southern districts.
The Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) plans to improve the situation in the coming two years.
The daily milk demand in the region is around 5.3 to 5.5 lakh litres, while the daily procurement currently stands at 4.25 lakh litres.
