During his visit to Assam, Dr Meenesh Shah, Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), inspected the upcoming slurry processing center at Purabi Dairy.
This facility aims to bolster dung utilization, thereby establishing a comprehensive manure management system. The initiative not only promises to uplift dairy farmers’ livelihoods but also aligns with the #SwachhBharatMission and advocates for green energy.
In Kamrup, Dr. Shah engaged with farmer member Indra Mohan Kalita, delving into the transformative potential of flexi biogas. With a herd of 8 milch animals, Kalita elucidated how biogas has ensured cooking fuel self-sufficiency.
Additionally, bio slurry derived from biogas production has reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers, consequently enhancing soil fertility and crop yields.
The forthcoming slurry processing center is poised to amplify these advantages, fostering a sustainable agricultural ecosystem beneficial to dairy farmers such as Kalita.
