Managing Director of National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) Sundeep Nayak has been promoted to the rank of apex scale which is equivalent to Chief Secretary in a State or to Secretary in Government of India, according to news coming from Srinagar.
A J&K cadre officer Nayak received the news while he was in the thick of planning for the upcoming international cooperative trade fair, a big ticket co-op event in which cooperative organizations from across the world are participating.
“I do not know as I am a govt official and would do as directed by the govt of India”, said Nayak when this correspondent asked him if his promotion would also mean his relocation.
Nayak has been able to achieve quite a lot in his short tenure, as have been reported in these columns in the past. Some of these include expanding NCDC portfolio almost by double, reviving NEDAC by giving the idea of Cooperative2Cooperative (C2C) business on the lines of B2B.
Several cooperators, however, expressed hope that Nayak would not be disturbed from his current position. They pointed out that Govind Nair who was NCDC’s MD in 2010 was also a Secretary rank officer in the govt of India.
Indian Cooperative joins others in congratulating Mr Nayak!
