Express News Service reports shortage of fertilisers especially NPK complex in certain parts of Odisha and the lack of fund in Odisha State Cooperative Marketing Federation (MARKFED) for supply of the soil nutrients have happened at the same time.
Markfed has to pay outstanding dues of Rs 40 crore to IFFCO. Meanwhile, Odisha Government has created a corpus of Rs 100 crore to help the cash strapped cooperative bodies including Markfed in the state.
However, the Government has released only Rs 37.5 crore to Markfed as against Rs 75 crore for procurement and distribution of fertilisers among the farmers.
