The Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (Markfed), Asia’s largest marketing cooperative federation, is planning to set up its mobile food chain in five major cities of the state, reports Chandigarh Tribune.
Markfed has asked the commissioners of municipal corporations of Amritsar, SAS Nagar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Bathinda, Markfed for allowing it to operate mobile food vans.
The cooperative has also offered to share revenue generated from the sale of food products with the respective corporations. Markfed officials said the food chain was primarily aimed at promoting “ready to eat” food products.
Waiting for the approval from respective municipal corporation Markfed officials are confident that it would materialise before the onset of summer, the daily further adds..
