Reacting to Wednesday’s Cabinet decision on strengthening co-operative movement in the country, Satish Marathe, one of the Founder Members of Sahakar Bharati said that the move will go a long way in raising peoples’ income in rural areas.
In an email to the Indian Cooperative, Satish Marathe wrote “Sahakar Bharati welcomes the new GOI initiative to strengthen PACs, Primary Milk Societies & Fisheries Co-Op Societies. It will go a long way in upgrading infra in these Co-Ops, resulting in increased income opportunities for people in rural areas.
It bears recalling that On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved strengthening the cooperative movement in the country and deepening its reach up to the grassroots. The idea of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) for convergence of different schemes was approved.
A high level Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) under the chairmanship of Home & Cooperation Minister with Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare; Minister for Fishery, Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Secretaries concerned; Chairman NABARD, NDDB and Chief Executive NFDB, as members has been constituted and empowered to take necessary steps.
