West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during an administrative review meeting on Thursday, directed officials to investigate fake accounts in co-operative banks across the state and complete the probe within two months.
Highlighting issues of unaccounted money in these banks, Banerjee stated, “Deposits in fake accounts must be recovered and sent to the state treasury.” She also criticized misuse during demonetization through Jan Dhan accounts and demanded physical verification.
Banerjee further alleged inefficiency in the finance department, accusing Left-leaning staff of idleness, and called for their replacement with efficient personnel.
