In order to teach a political lesson to the leader of Opposition in the Assembly and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that thousands of crores of rupees are deposited in the benami accounts of many cooperative banks of the state.
The state government will get these accounts audited. This benami money will be deposited in the state government treasury. The Chief Minister said that this amount would be used for schemes related to social welfare in the state.
It is being learnt that the Adhikari family has been ruling several co-operative banks in East Medinipur district and has been in command of them.
