The govt of Maharashtra has asked officials of the cooperative dept. to prepare details of irregularities committed by the Congress and the NCP in all 30 district cooperative banks in the state and attach properties of those responsible for the losses, reports Asian Age.
Senior BJP minister Eknath Khadse has blamed the Congress -NCP combine for the current crisis in the banking sector in Maharashtra.
Over the last years, most of cooperative bodies in the state have either shut down or are being managed by administrators, sources say.
Several DCC banks controlled by NCP misused amounts meant for salaries of primary and secondary teachers. These teachers are asking the government to pay the arrears, Khadse is quoted as saying.
