The elections of 83,000 cooperative housing societies (CHS) with 250 members in Maharashtra have been further postponed to February. The existing committees of these societies will function till the elections, reports Free Press Journal.
The notification issued by the government says postponement became necessary because the cooperation department was too busy implementing the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s crop loan waiver scheme to frame new rules for the elections.
As per the cooperative dept information, there are about one lakh housing societies in the state.
