Maharashtra Cooperative sugar mills want a grade-wise rise in the MSP of sugar and a government guarantee for mills that have a negative NDR and therefore are being refused working capital loans, reports Financial Express.
A source close to the Maharashtra sugar mills said the rise in the MSP is desperately needed if they would level with sugar mills from Uttar Pradesh that dominate the market.
The current MSP for sugar is Rs 3,100 per quintal for all grades.
