Maharashtra minister of state for agriculture has indicated that the state government is soon likely to urge Amul to manage state run dairies in Maharashtra to help milk farmers gain financial advantages, reports Hindustan Times.
There are two state run dairies in Maharashtra including Mahananda and Aarey. The minister plans submit a report to the CM arguing the state run dairies have failed farmers in terms of paying them reasonable prices for their milk, Gujarat’s Amul could manage Maharashtra’s state owned dairies.
The BJP minister came down heavily on the NCP and Congress leaders who are in control of cooperative milk dairies for not paying remunerative prices to the milk farmers.
