The Maharashtra government will stand conditional guarantee for financially weak sugar mills to enable them to meet their obligations in the coming crushing season, reports Indian Express.
Maharashtra Cooperation Balasaheb Patil has urged them to ensure that pre-seasonal loans, for which the government would stand guarantee, have to be repaid before the 2020-21 sugar season comes to an end.
Sources say Initial scrutiny carried out by officials had shown that none of the 33 mills that had applied for the scheme was fulfilling the five conditions set by the government.
