The NCP, the coalition partner of Congress and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra has criticized the Modi govt. for amendments to the Banking Regulation (Amendment) Act 2020 arguing it will threaten the very existence of the cooperative banking sector.
The matter was debated at a meeting chaired by NCP chief Sharad Pawar with party ministers and office-bearers, media reports say.
The Maharashtra government has formed a task force chaired by the cooperation minister Balasaheb Patil and comprising ministers from three parties and banking experts to consider the matter.
