Considering cooperative societies bristle with irregularities and graft the cooperative department of Maharashtra has appointed 87 special auditors to carry out a test audit of 570 co-operative societies in the state, reports UNI.
The audit reports will be submitted by September 2018, to the Commissioner of Co-operatives.
Of 570 societies selected for the test audit, 340 societies are from Mumbai. If auditors appointed earlier are found to have failed in their duties, strict action will be initiated against them, a source claimed.
