Madras High Court has directed the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to take action against a former president and vice-president of Vandavasi Primary Agricultural Co-operative Credit Society for alleged misappropriation of funds, reports New Indian Express.
The court said this while passing orders on petitions from a former chief of Vandavasi society.
The petitioner had requested to quash the orders of the Co-operative Tribunal and District Court of Tiruvannamalai, confirming the order of the Deputy Registrar, Cheyyar, to collect the financial loss to the tune of Rs 30 lakh with 21 per cent interest from March 1, 2003 from the accused.
The court also pulled up the Registrar of Co-operative Societies for not taking appropriate action against the erring officials in similar cases.
