Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation, renowned for its ‘Sanchi’ brand, seeks collaboration with Amul, India’s largest cooperative, aiming to expand operations and augment procurement from farmers, a senior official disclosed to FE.
Presently, ‘Sanchi’ procures merely 20-25% of the state’s milk production. Teaming up with GCMMF is anticipated to extend operations across Madhya Pradesh.
Amidst reports of acquisition, officials emphasize learning from Amul’s expertise. ‘Sanchi’ witnesses a 7-8% annual growth in milk procurement, engaging approximately 0.25 million farmers from 10,000 villages.
I, Lalit Kumar Lodha, Secretary, Milk Cooperative Society Limited, Theuwa (District Guna, Madhya Pradesh) supply milk to Bhopal Dugdh Sangh. I want to tell you that Bhopal Milk Union is committing a lot of financial atrocities on the farmers. Due to shortage of milk in summers, the price of milk in the market is 8₹/fat, whereas Bhopal Milk Union is giving only ₹6.45 to ₹7.00/fat to the farmers. The same 6.0 fat milk is being bought from farmers at ₹38/litre and sold in the market at ₹64/litre. Along with this, they have held the money of all the societies for 65 days. On complaining about payment and sending milk in less quantity, there is a threat of confiscating the milk vehicle.
