Rajasthan -based Kota Nagarik Sahakari Bank organized its 58th Annual General Meeting on Sunday last week, in which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla participated as the Chief Guest. Interestingly, Birla’s younger brother Rajesh Birla is the Chairman of the bank.
Addressing the meeting, Birla said that the main objective of the cooperative movement is to strengthen farmers, rural artisans, landless laborers, lower-income groups, unemployed people of the weaker and backward sections of society. Cooperatives play an important role in the economy of the country.
In his address, the bank President Rajesh Krishna Birla said that the bank which started with 32 members in 1932 has now 60,689 members. The deposits of the bank increased from 683 crores to 708 crores. The working capital increased from 849 crores to 859 crores. The bank earned a net profit of Rs 3.04 crore in the 2020-21 FY.
