Loknete Balasaheb Desai Sahakari Sakhar Kharkhana, Daulatnagar (Marali), Maharashtra has set up the Covid Care Centre at Patan Taluka in Satara district which was inaugurated by Minister of State for Home Shambhuraj Desai recently. There is an ambulance facility also.
Desai is on the board of a Sugar Cooperative and is MLA from Patan, Vidhan Sabha seat where the Covid centre has been established.
Sharing the details with Indian Cooperative Society Chairman Ashoka Rao Patil said, ” On the call of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar urging the sugar mills to establish Covid-19 care centres, we have established the Covid care centre at Patan Taluka in Satara district of Maharashtra”.
“As a Covid patient in our Taluka has to travel long for their treatment, so in order to get them medication we have set up the covid care centre. The Covid Care Centre has 75 beds out of which 50 are oxygen beds and 25 regular beds. It is managed by a team of nursing staff led by Doctors. There is an availability of oxygen cylinders at the centre”, he informed.
Patil further added, we are providing the facility free of cost for patients and providing breakfast, tea and lunch. There is also a facility of testing. The green and clean atmosphere with good airflow is an added advantage to the patients to feel comfortable while being treated at the centre. They will not feel that they are in hospital. It took one week to establish this centre”, he noted.
Earlier, Vignahar Sugar mill in Junnar taluka of Pune district had set up one such centre.
The Loknete Sugar cooperative has a crushing capacity of over 1250 tons per day and sugar production around 2.45 lakh quintal. There are over 25,000 farmers associated with the Sugar co-op.
